Mass BASS Nation each year hosts a State Championship which we call our “Fish off “ You must be a Mass BASS Nation member to fish this event and be in a Nation club.
The Fish off is a 2 day event held out of state on a larger body of water commonly scheduled in the later part of the year. This tournament determines the Mass BASS Nation state team consisting of the top 10 boaters and the top 10 co-anglers.
The fish off is basically 2 tournaments in one, the boaters fish head to head with a five fish limit to determine the best in their division and the co-anglers compete amongst themselves with a 3 fish limit.
Make the State team and the level of competition steps up, you now have an opportunity to make it to the Bassmaster Classic a dream of most BASS fishermen.
The State team attends a Regional tournament against the Eastern board states where they crown a state team champion. The top state angler from the boater and top co-angler divisions will move on to a National event, from the National the top 3 finishers will qualify to fish the Bassmaster Classic and represent the B.A.S.S. Nation.
It takes hard work and dedication to make the Classic but it is possible, it all starts with you joining a club, learning and competing and the rest is up to you.
